Short week for me (not by choice), but nice to be back with you to celebrate FRIDAY!!  Hope you have a fun weekend planned. Let’s get you ready with the 5 things you need to know

1. Calling it ‘apocolyptic’ and saying “there’s nothing left” residents of Maui in Hawaii, continue to flee the wildfires. 80 percent contained, the death toll is at 55 and is expected to rise.

2. Muons are trending and if you’re a science nerd you know why. New measurements of subatomic particles known as muons have confirmed earlier results in much greater accuracy, being called the “most precise” in the history of particle physics. Muons resemble electrons but are 200 times heavier and decay within microseconds. What is being studied is how the particles wobble when traveling through magnetic fields, a phenomenon caused by what is known as quantum foam. That would be a great name for a rock band.

3. The Emmy’s have been moved from September 18th to January 15th due to the ongoing writers and actors strikes

4. While my wife Amy and I are considering taking our next cruise on Virgin Voyages, Virgin Galactic just made it’s 7th successful test flight to the edge of space, this time with paying customers on board.  The plan is to conduct space tourism flights once a month

5. and if you want to visit the oldest bar in every state, there is now a list. You won’t have to go very far to visit the one in Kansas.  The Hays House Retaurant and Tavern has been on the Sante Fe Trail in Hays since 1857 and is the oldest restaurant west of the Mississippi.
