The 89th National Baseball Congress World Series began Thursday in Wichita, with 16 teams that will be competing.
Games are being played at Eck Stadium at Wichita State University. Teams from Kansas that will be playing include the Sedgwick County Blues, the Liberal Bee Jays, the Kansas Cannons, the Great Bend Bat Cats, the Hutchinson Monarchs, and the Hays Larks. Other teams are from Denver, Colorado, Santa Barbara, California; Tulsa, Oklahoma, Seattle, Washington, and Lone Star and Arlington in Texas.
The first six days of the tournament will be pool play with four pools of four teams each. Three teams from each pool will advance to single elimination play, which will begin August 9th.
Tickets start at $10 for general admission, or $15 for reserved seating, and tickets are good for the full day’s slate of games. They can be purchased online at nbcbaseball.com or at the Eck Stadium Box Office on game days.
