Fireworks tents will be open in Wichita starting Tuesday.  The city is allowing fireworks to be sold from June 27th to July 4th.

The tents within the city limits will be selling what are called “safe and sane” fireworks, which can be sold through July 4th.  Aerial fireworks will not be sold in the city, but they will be allowed to be in use from July 1st through July 4th.   Bottle rockets and sky lanterns will be banned in the city.

The hours for shooting fireworks will be from 10 a.m. to midnight.   Wichita will have teams of police officers and firefighters watching for any violations.   A first time offense can carry a fine of $1,000, a second offense would be $1,500 and a third offense and beyond will have a $2,000 fine.

Sedgwick County is urging residents to check with their local city regulations on the use of fireworks.   The non-emergency hotline for reporting fireworks nuisance incidents will be 316-290-1011, and it will be open from July 1st through the 5th from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m.
