Britain crowned a new monarch for the first time in 70 years. King Charles the Third and Queen Camilla were crowned during the coronation ceremony inside Westminster Abbey in London Saturday morning.

The King and Queen took part in a procession from the church to Buckingham Palace, traveling in a Gold State Coach more than 200-years old. Nearly four-thousand UK armed forces are leading the procession.

President Biden offered his congratulations and said the enduring friendship between the U.S. and U.K. is a source of strength for “both our peoples.” The President of the European Council Charles Michel extended his best wishes adding the council appreciates the King’s dedication to environmental efforts. The Irish Foreign Minister called it a very important day for many across “these islands.” Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping also commended the Royal couple and called for increased cooperation between the countries.
