Wichita police are warning residents to watch out for two separate scams that have been reported.

Police said Saturday that someone has been calling people and telling them that a loved one has been kidnapped, and the caller is demanding a ransom to get that person back safely.  People are urged to verify that their loved ones are safe and they should not pay anything over the phone or provide any sensitive information.   If you are unable to reach your loved ones, you should call 911.   If you find this to be a scam, you should block the number that called you.

Police also said that someone has created a fake Tik Tok page for the Wichita police department.   This is not a WPD page and it has been reported to Tik Tok.

Police are still investigating both scams to determine who is responsible.
