Fire crews from Cowley, Sedgwick, Sumner and Chautauqua counties were working on the scene of a large grass fire south of Cedar Vale.
The fire was reported shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday near the Kansas-Oklahoma border and the Kansas Forest Service provided its Tanker 95 aircraft to help with operations. Crews from a total of 21 fire departments were sent to the area.
There were no reports of injuries or damage to any structures. Investigators said the fire was the result of a controlled burn.
