Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Wichita Native, Petty Officer 3rd Class Carl Denesha.  Carl is one of the sailors continuing a 123-year tradition of service under the sea aboard USS Annapolis, operating out of San Diego, California. A 2018 graduate of Campus High School and 2019 University of Kansas graduate, Carl joined the Navy over 2 years ago.  Carl is a 3rd generation sailor, following the footsteps of his mom, dad and grandfather. “The most important thing I learned from hometown is that learning from those before you helps you more than struggling alone,” said Carl.  Today, Denesha serves as an electronics technician (navigation) responsible for maintaining all electronic equipment used in navigaton and piloting submarines. “My favorite part of my job is rigging the flying bridge on top of the sail of a submarine at sea,” said Denesha. “Serving in the Navy gave me a chance to give back to my country,” added Carl.  Thank you for making us Kansas Proud Carl and THANK YOU for your service.
