The City of Wichita is moving its City Engineer into the top job in the Public Works Department.
Gary Janzen has been named as the new Director of Public Works and Utilities. He has been with the city for 28 years, serving the past 11 years as Assistant Director of Public Works and Utilities/City Engineering. He is a licensed professional engineer in Kansas.
As City Engineer, Janzen has appeared at a number of City Council meetings to talk about street improvement and drainage projects. City Manager Robert Layton said Janzen has helped the Public Works Department make enormous progress on city infrastructure.
Janzen takes over the Public Works Director position after the retirement of Director Alan King on March 3rd.
