A semi tractor trailer and a pickup collided on K-96 in Reno County, leaving one person dead.
The crash was reported around 10 a.m. Thursday on K-96 at Worthington Road, just west of the Reno-Sedgwick County line.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said both vehicles were traveling east on K-96 and the semi slowed down to make a turn. The pickup then struck the semi from behind.
The driver of the pickup, a 27-year-old Hutchinson man, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. A passenger, 43-year-old Brian Garza of Hutchinson, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi, a 57-year-old Conway Springs man, had minor injuries.
