Tanganyika Wildlife Park near Goddard has announced the birth of a baby Indian Rhino calf.
The baby, named MarJon, was born to the park’s two rhinos, Monica and Stacks. The calf arrived on February 16th after a pregnancy of 462 days.
Park officials said the calf weighed 80 to 90 pounds and was up and nursing just a few hours after birth. Both mom and baby are doing well. Tanganyika Wildlife Park owner Jim Fouts called it an incredible moment for the entire Tanganyika family, and he said the park is committed to preserving and protecting endangered species like Indian Rhinos. This is the first Indian Rhino born in Kansas.
