Flights are taking off once again across the country as a ground stop has been lifted. However, the impacts of a major outage that caused flights to be grounded are being felt in a big way.

FlightAware says more than 58-hundred flights within, into, or out of the U.S. have been delayed so far. More than 950 flights have been canceled. The top trouble spots around the country include Charlotte and New York’s LaGuardia.

Flights were grounded after a computer glitch affected the Notice to Air Missions system. The FAA says the cause of what happened is under investigation.  The White House said there was no indication of a cyberattack, but the Department of Transportation will look into the outage.

Several flights were canceled or delayed at Eisenhower National Airport during the early morning hours.    Flights were allowed to resume around 8 a.m.

Kansas Senator Jerry Moran issued a statement with Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar in response to the ground stop:

“Travelers in the United States deserve safe and dependable air travel service. As co-chairs of the Senate Travel and Tourism Caucus, we had a constructive conversation with FAA Acting Administrator Billy Nolen who said that his agency is working to determine what caused today’s breakdown to ensure it doesn’t happen again. We are committed to working together in a bipartisan way to strengthen and modernize our air travel system and meet the demands of our 21st century economy.”
