The office of Kansas Governor Laura Kelly said Tuesday that the governor has tested positive for COVID-19. The governor is fully vaccinated and has experienced minor symptoms, with Tuesday being the first day that symptoms appeared.
The governor’s office said she is following the guidance of public health officials to self-isolate as she continues to work.
The Governor’s Office has notified people who attended Inaugural Ball activities and the inauguration ceremony, as well as the people who attended the signing of an executive order to improve early childhood development. This will not delay normal governmental functions.
The Governor’s planned State of the State Address has been postponed to Tuesday, January 24th at 6:30 p.m. The Governor will still release her proposed budget on Thursday as planned.
