Ascension Via Christi’s Wichita hospitals are asking for the community’s help to protect patients and staff by taking steps to stem the spread of respiratory illnesses.
Family and friends of patients are asked not to make in-person visits to the hospital if they are experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms such as cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose, nasal congestion or sore throat.
Additionally, visitors must be age 12 or older until further notice, although exceptions may be made where warranted. If there are extenuating circumstances, Ascension officials are advising that you speak to the attending nurse to determine appropriate visitation that is safe for everyone.
Visitors are also reminded to wash their hands and/or use an alcohol-based hand rub when entering and exiting a patient’s room, a practice that is already in place with staff.
