Wichita Public Schools (WPS) announced that all K-8 students and their families will have unlimited access this summer to virtual summer camps and small group tutoring.
Students can explore new interests like animation or coding, take live courses from scientists and astronauts, or participate in small-group tutoring to help students build the knowledge and skills for the coming school year. The district has partnered with Varsity Tutors to for its summer learning program, as part of the district’s Every Student Future Ready strategic plan.
Wichita Public Schools is providing free learning and enrichment this summer. Unlimited Summer Learning helps students dive deeper into their interests or discover new passions.

Academic Acceleration: Summer learning has never been more vital to close achievement gaps, and with dedicated instruction from highly vetted experts, each student can make substantial gains in math, reading, writing, and science foundational skills. Students will refresh and reinforce key material studied earlier in the year, dive deeper into core concepts, and even introduce new skills so they can begin the next school year with the tools they need to succeed.

Always-on Enrichment and Activities: Students can engage with hundreds of fun, educational activities they’ll look forward to with anytime access to a wide variety of live, drop-in classes and hundreds of star-taught, on-demand lessons. Students can explore their passions, learn new skills, and collaborate with other learners. In between classes, students have access to a full library of hands-on enrichment projects that facilitate interactive, fun, and educational activities.

StarCourses Live and On-Demand: Notable experts and celebrity instructors will teach live large group classes ranging from art to coding to astronomy and beyond. Examples include classes taught by renowned scientists (Bill Nye), NASA astronauts (Leland Melvin), Wildlife experts (Coyote Peterson), and museum directors (Field Museum). The catalog also includes access to over 100 recorded past StarCourses.

Summer Camp Reimagined: Taught live by top experts in an online environment that encourages social interaction and collaboration, camps are small, hands-on group classes of 8 to 12 students that allow learners to collaborate, explore, and go deep into the topics they’re passionate about. Students can select from a range of topics relevant across grades K-8 including Roblox Coding, Chess Masters, Young Animators, STEM, Sketching & Drawing, Junior Geology, Creative Writing, Money & Investing, and beyond.
