A nominating commission has chosen three nominees to be considered for a vacant seat on the Kansas Court of Appeals.
The nominees are Lawrence attorney Meryl Carver-Allmond, 3rd District Judge Rachel Pickering of Topeka, and Wichita attorney Kristen Wheeler, who is the chair of the Kansas Board of Tax Appeals.
Governor Laura Kelly will appoint one of the nominees to fill a seat left vacant by the recent retirement of Judge Anthony Powell of Wichita. The appointment will be subject to confirmation by the Kansas Senate.
