Local non-profit organization, The Honore Adversis Foundation, announced a series of fundraisers to a support a Wichita Police Officer recently diagnosed with metastatic esophageal cancer that has spread to his liver.
Officer Daniel Gumm is an 18-year veteran of the Wichita Police Department and K-9 handler.
On March 18th, 2017, Officer Gumm was involved in a domestic violence incident call that resulted in his K-9 partner, Rooster, being shot and killed.
Gumm has been a K-9 handler and K-9-unit trainer with the WPD for the past 12 years. He is also a United States Army veteran.
Honore Adversis announced the following fundraisers to benefit Officer Gumm and his family:

A #294STRONG Benefit which will include hamburger and hot dog feed, silent auction, and live auction will take place on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit which is located at 18218 W. US-54, Goddard, KS 67052. The benefit will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A #294STRONG 5K Run & 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, September 3, 2022, with the location to be determined (TBD). Many more details to come on this 5K Run & 1 Mile Family Fun Run/ Walk which may include pancake feed, coffee, Touch A Truck, and opportunity to meet local K-9 heroes.
