An investigation is ongoing into a plane crash in Leavenworth County.
The crash happened just before 10 a.m. Monday, near Highway 40 in Basehor. 68-year-old Gary Knight, of Lansing, is identified as the pilot killed in the crash. He was flying what is being described as small experimental plane.
A report from the Kansas Highway Patrol says Knight made a hard turn and attempted an emergency landing in the bean field. When the plane hit the ground it caught fire.
The NTSB is investigating.
