Police have a person of interest in custody after a North Kansas City, Missouri police officer was shot during a traffic stop. The officer died later at a hospital, and he was identified as 32-year-old Daniel Vasquez, who had been with the department for about a year.
The shooting was reported shortly after 10:30 Tuesday morning on 21st Street.
Clay County deputies and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were looking for a suspect vehicle, described as a gray early 2000s model Ford Taurus with a temporary tag. Clay County officials reported later that the driver was taken into custody by Kansas City, Missouri police.
