Higher humidity has resulted in a Heat Advisory for much of eastern Kansas for Friday.
The advisory goes into effect at noon and runs at least to 8 p.m., and it is for McPherson, Marion, Chase, Butler and Greenwood counties. Sedgwick County is not included in the advisory.
Higher humidity could bump the heat index up as high as 105. You are advised to drink plenty of fluids and stay out of the sun when possible. If you have vulnerable neighbors or relatives it is suggested that you check up on them.
Highs in in the mid to upper 90s will continue through the weekend, with the heat index up to 102 in some cases. Parts of north-central Kansas will be under an excessive heat watch through the weekend.
