Wichita police have arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident that happened May 1st in a west side neighborhood.
The arrest was made in the death of 49-year-old Kurt Krueger, who was found dead by officers in the 7900 block of West Cottontail. They found that he had been walking in his neighborhood and was struck by a vehicle that left the scene. Krueger’s body was found around 2:10 a.m. on May 1st, about 20 to 30 minutes after the incident.
Detectives identified a suspect and began working to find him. They saw him go into a home in the 7700 block of West Quail on Wednesday, and they tried to contact him but the people in the home were uncooperative and did not allow officers to enter. Police surrounded the home and started the process for a search warrant. Three people left the home and the suspect remained inside. After several calls from officers to leave the house, the suspect finally walked out and was taken into custody. He was booked into jail for leaving the scene of a fatal collision.
Information in the case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for the filing of formal charges.
