UPDATE:  The Rose Hill School District has announced new safety measures after an incident where a five-year-old boy was taken from a daycare facility by his non-custodial parents.

In a letter to parents, the school district said it would begin new practices:

•Second layer identification verification including photo ID and guardian notification.
•Renewed parental documentation for custodial updates.
•Restricted access for our childcare facility.
•Upgraded equipment in our district surveillance system.
The district said staff will be trained in the safety enhancements and families will be notified of the childcare access procedures.

The Rose Hill School District responded to last Friday’s Amber alert after a boy’s mother kidnapped her son from school.

The boy’s non-custodial parents took him from Rose Hill District Daycare. His mother did so by posing as a social worker. The child was later found safe in Oklahoma.

The Rose Hill School District on Wednesday called the incident “pre-planned, elaborate and very calculated” via Facebook before saying that it is reviewing its procedures regarding child safety. The district plans to provide updates on any changes to its procedures before the daycare reopens on May 31st.

The child’s parents, Danielle Banzet and Zachary Sisk, are currently being held in the Noble County Jail in Oklahoma on charges that include kidnapping, drugs, and felons in possession of weapons.
