Second WPD officer hurt in shooting now home

The second Wichita Police officer who was hurt in a shooting on Christmas Eve is now out of the the hospital and recovering at home.

The other officer who was shot was released from a hospital on Sunday. Both officers are expected to make full recoveries.

A statement from Wichita Police Chief, Gordon Ramsay, said one officer had been shot in the arm and the other in the leg. The officers were attempting to arrest 24-year-old Malik Rogers, in connection to a domestic violence incident. Police say Rogers shot the officers as they forced their way into a bathroom, and was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot.
