A Wichita man has been charged in a fatal hit-and-run incident that killed a motorcycle rider at a south side intersection.
31-year-old Jesus Olave, Jr appeared in court Tuesday and was charged with a felony of leaving the scene of an accident, along with a misdemeanor charge of no valid driver’s license. His bond was set at $250,000 and his next court appearance was scheduled for September 16th.
Police said Olave was driving an SUV that collided with a motorcycle at 47th Street South and Hydraulic on the night of August 25th. The vehicle then left the scene, but Olave was arrested a day later.
The crash killed 37-year-old Kenneth “Kenny” Ballinger, the manager of the Barleycorn’s and Elbow Room music venues in Wichita.
