Two people were killed when their car veered from the southbound lanes of I-135 into the northbound lanes and collided with a semi in Harvey County.
The crash was reported shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday about two miles south of Newton. The Kansas Highway Patrol said a southbound car left the roadway and went onto the median, then it went back onto the roadway and overcorrected, going back onto the median and then into the northbound lanes.
The two people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified as the driver, 65-year-old Denice Bina, and 71-year-old Raymond Bina, both of Marion.
The driver of the semi, a 25-year-old Udall man, was not hurt.
The crash closed I-135 for several hours while troopers were investigating the scene.
