Kansas corrections officials say a resident of a sexual predator treatment program is missing from the Larned State Hospital.
Officials said 42-year-old John Freeman Colt walked away Wednesday morning and is considered absent without permission. Colt was seen on video walking out of the Dillon Building on the Larned campus around 7 a.m. He had shaved his beard and changed his hairstyle and used a fake identity badge to get through a security checkpoint.
A member of the community picked up someone matching Colt’s description, and he was taken to Larned and dropped off at a convenience store. Law enforcement officials are searching for him, and the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office has activated a local farmers’ alert.
Colt is 5 feet 6 inches tall and 201 pounds, and he was last seen wearing a face mask, dress pants and a dress shirt. He has a tattoo on his upper left arm with the initials BH. He was convicted of sex crimes in Shawnee County.
