Crews have been battling a fire that broke out in a wheat field southwest of Hesston.
The fire was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in a field on North Emma Creek Road, between Northwest 60th and 72nd Streets. Gusty winds helped to spread the fire and smoke was picked up on weather radar out of Wichita.
The fire has burned a 30-acre area. There have been no reports of injuries and no reports of buildings being threatened.
Fire units from Hesston, Burrton, Halstead, Moundridge, Newton and Walton were sent to the scene.
