Wichita man arrested after road rage incident

Police took a man into custody after a road rage incident late Tuesday morning in west Wichita.

Police said there was a report of an officer-in-trouble call around 11:45 a.m. at Kellogg and Meridian, with a large disturbance and an off-duty officer on the scene.   Officers found that a road rage incident took place between a 51-year-old man in a black pickup and a 63-year-old man in a white pickup.    The younger man stopped in front of the white truck, got out and ran toward the other driver, and a fight broke out.  An off-duty community police officer saw the incident and stopped, and he told witnesses to call 911.

The 51-year-old man was arrested and booked into jail for simple battery.   The suspect and the other driver only had minor injuries.

The city prosecutor’s office will determine charges in the case.

This was the second road rage incident in less than a week at the same location.    A 34-year-old man was tracked down by police after a shot was fired at a 29-year-old man’s windshield late in the morning of April 15th.
