KHP reports three dead in Marion County crash

Kansas Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a two-vehicle crash in Marion County that killed three people and three greyhound dogs.

The crash was reported shortly after noon Friday on Highway 56 east of Hillsboro.  The KHP said a Dodge Caravan swerved left of center and hit a Ford F-150 head-on. The driver of the Caravan, identified as 30-year-old Nathan D. Puett of Salina, was killed. Both the driver and the passenger of the Ford–identified as 70 year old James Potter and 61 year old Jody Potter, both of Emporia–were also killed.

The F-150 driven by the Potters was towing a trailer with 20 greyhound dogs.  Three of the dogs were killed and one of them is still missing.

Two children in the Dodge Caravan were taken to a Wichita hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries after the crash.
