Sedgwick County and the city of Wichita have announced that the COVID-19 vaccine clinic will be moving from the INTRUST Bank Arena to the former downtown library building in Wichita.
The move will be effective Monday, February 22nd. The county will have the former library building at 223 South Main as the main vaccination site, with a drive-through clinic continuing at the Wichita Transit Operations Center at 777 East Waterman. The drive-through location is for people who have mobility difficulties that would prevent them from going to the main site.
County Commission Chairman Pete Meitzner said the support of the arena has been invaluable as the county began vaccination efforts, and now the county is looking forward to working with the city and the use of the former library as a consistent vaccine clinic six days a week.
Wichita Mayor Brandon Whipple said it’s crucial for the city and county to work together to support the health and safety of the community. He said the city is committed to the effort to protect residents and get the city back in business.
