City Of Wichita Seeks Local Artists For Chester I. Lewis Park Redesign Project

The City of Wichita and Mulberry Creative (who is serving as a consultant) are looking for Kansas-based artists to contribute to the Chester I. Lewis Park Redesign Project.

The park is named for civil rights leader Chester I. Lewis, who was the president of the local chapter of the NAACP, fought to desegregate Wichita, and lobbied for fair housing.  The goal of the project is to honor his legacy and provide residents with a place to reflect.

Artists are being encouraged to sign up for the Artist Registry at the City’s website: www.wichita.gov/Arts/Registry. Those on the registry should then email project consultant Anthony Joyner at anthonyj@hustleandart.com.

Artists NOT on the city’s registry can still apply by visiting https://hustleandart.com/call-for-artists

The deadline for applications is February 15th, 2021. The project is expected to be completed in the Summer of 2022.
