Kansas corrections officials said a second inmate at the El Dorado Correctional Facility has died after testing positive for COVID-19.
The inmate was a 60-year-old man who had been serving a 25-years-to-life sentence for first degree murder, and he was in the prison system since 1999. His name was not released.
Corrections officials said the man tested positive on December 26th and was transferred to the hospital on January 11th. He died Thursday, January 21st.
This was the second death at El Dorado and the 14th coronavirus-related death in the state corrections system.
