Wichita firm wins bid for building project at WSU

A Wichita firm has won the contract to build a facility that will be the new home for the W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University.

Dondlinger Construction was the lowest of eight bids submitted for Woolsey Hall, and it is below the university’s projected total cost of $60 million.

The WSU Foundation is working to raise $35 million of the project cost from private funds, and about $31.5 million has already been donated or pledged.  The remaining $25 million for the project will be covered by Wichita State through a bonding plan approved by the Kansas Board of Regents.

Woolsey Hall is named for Wayne and Kay Woolsey of Wichita, who made the lead gift in the fundraising campaign.  The three-level building was designed by the architectural team of GastingerWalker of Kansas City and Gensler Chicago.   A groundbreaking is scheduled for October 22nd and the building is expected to be completed in the spring of 2022.
