Flash flooding, water rescues reported in Butler County

A “life-threatening” flash flood warning was issued Friday morning for Butler County as severe storms through the overnight and morning hours brought torrential rain to the area.

Parts of Butler County have seen 6 inches of rain since midnight and flooding is being reported across the county.  Water rescues have been reported in El Dorado as water flooded streets and stalled vehicles.

159th Street East has been closed south of Kellogg in Andover due to water over the road.  Flooding has also been reported near Sedgwick near the Harvey and Sedgwick County line.

More storms are expected this evening and Saturday which has the potential lead to more flash flooding across south-central Kansas.
