Wichita Police have arrested a 43-year-old man in connection to the fatal crash that killed long time Wichita radio personality Don Hall.

Police say shortly before 4:30 this morning, Hall was making a left turn from Kellogg Drive onto northbound Rock Road with the driver of a Lincoln heading south ran a red light striking Hall’s vehicle.  Firefighters had to extract Hall from his vehicle and he was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The 43-year-old man had minor injuries and was taken into custody at the scene.  Police say they found evidence of drug and alcohol use in the man’s vehicle and on his person and believe he was under the influence at the time of the crash.

He was booked into jail for second-degree murder and has a previous conviction for aggravated robbery.  KFDI News is not identifying the man until formal charges have been filed.

“This is a very sad and tragic case,” Chief Gordon Ramsay said in a statement to the media. “Don was a big part of the Wichita community for many years. He will be missed. WPD continues its thoughts and prayers for the Hall family and all those affected by this unfortunate incident.”
