The Salvation Army, Kansas and Western Missouri Division has received around $1.5 million under the federal CARES Act for Covid-19 relief.
The funds will support the army’s Social Service for Veterans and Families program. The funds will be used to expand services for eligible veteran households that may be vulnerable due to the pandemic.
The program typically assists veterans and their families in danger of being homeless or who are experiencing homelessness. The funds will help pay for hotel rooms as an alternative to shelters, and extend rent and utility assistance to veterans and veteran households at risk of homelessness or already experiencing homelessness in the Wichita area.
The Salvation Army is waiving some of the requirements for eligibility. If you are a veteran at risk or know a veteran family who needs assistance, you should contact the Salvation Army’s Social Service for Veterans and Families at 316-425-6144.
