Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Vietnam Veteran Bob Mangles.  The former Navy musician wanted to volunteer and help during the coronavirus pandemic but he was turned away, saying he was too old.  So, Bob decided to channel his desire to help into a nightly tribute to the daily lives lost to the coronavirus.  Each night at sunset, Bob would walk out into his driveway, and play taps for those lives lost. Bob said, “I was used as an instrument of war back in Vietnam, and now I can be an instrument for peace. I can give somebody a little piece of mind after some of their loved ones have passed on. It’s just a way of honoring the life and spirit of those people. It’s something I can do.”  Thank you Bob for you gift and thank you for your service.
