Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Green Beret Veteran Staff Sgt. Kevin Flike. Kevin is one of the 31,000 entrants who were scheduled to run the Boston Marathon on April 10th. It has since been postponed, but Kevin plans to be ready to run to make good on a promise he made himself. In 2011, the sniper shot Kevin. The bullet did damage to his stomach, and paralyzed his left leg, leaving it atrophied to the size of his arm. Days after he was shot, Kevin made a promise to himself, he would fun and finish his marathon. Which is exactly what he plans to do.
