WSU awards Gore Scholarship to three high school seniors

Wichita State University has presented the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarships to three high school seniors.

Each student will receive a $64,000 scholarship to attend WSU, starting in August.   The students competed in the Distinguished Scholarship Invitational in November, with a total of 656 students competing, the largest number in the event’s history.   To be invited, students had to have a 27 or higher ACT score, or a 3.5 or higher grade point average, or rank in the top ten percent of their class.

One of the Gore Scholarships will go to M.J. Jacques of Topeka High School.  She is planning to study aerospace engineering.

The second student to win the scholarship is Rebekah Krehbiel of Northside High School in Arkansas, and she will be majoring in biomedical engineering.

The third Gore Scholarship winner is Vivian Le, a senior in the International Baccalaureate program at Wichita East High School.   Vivian plans to attend medical school.
