The Goddard city council has voted unanimously to approve a ban on the possession of vaping products by persons under 18 years of age.
A new ordinance will prohibit the possession of vaping devices and pods, and it’s aimed as pods that are used for product oils such as nicotine, CBD and THC. Goddard police have reported an increase in the number of cases of minors having vaping devices, and the ordinance is intended to discourage the use of these products by teens.
The ordinance carries a $200 fine but it allows a judge to reduce the fine for first-time offenders, and the judge could also hand down an order for community service or the completion of an educational course on the dangers and effects of vaping products.
The ordinance also prohibits the selling, giving or furnishing of vaping products to a minor.
