Kellogg has been opened again between Webb Road and K-96 following partial completion of construction.

Two lanes both east and westbound are now open following a ceremony Thursday afternoon.  City officials caution that speeds are still reduced to 40 mph while construction work continues to complete the project.

Starting Friday, weather permitting, the Webb Road intersection will be opened back up and left turns will again be allowed.  Traffic restrictions for drivers exiting the turnpike near Webb Road will change from a stop condition to a free-flow condition, prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Once all work is complete, six lanes of traffic will open on Kellogg to the K-96 interchange.  Work is expected to be completed on that portion of the project later this year, and work on the next segment that extends to Greenwich Road will be completed by the end of 2021.   New ramps will also be constructed for the Kansas Turnpike gate on East Kellogg.

Officials from Wichita, Sedgwick County and the state of Kansas attended a ceremony Thursday to officially open Kellogg to traffic at Webb Road.    Kansas transportation secretary Julie Lorenz was one of the speakers, and she said a new highway program is being prepared for state lawmakers in 2021.  She said partnerships with local communities will be important in bringing federal, state and local funds to that program.
