The team organization for the Wichita WindSurge Triple-A baseball team has announced its first major partner and sponsor. Emprise Bank will be the organization’s first Legacy Partner.
Wichita Baseball 2020 managing general partner Lou Schwechheimer said there will be an Emprise Bank pavilion on the east side of the new baseball stadium that will feature an NBC World Series Hall of Fame and Museum. He said fans will be able to see the 85-year history of Lawrence-Dumont Stadium, and there will be educational programs and fund-raising events throughout the year.
Schwechheimer said the partnership with Emprise Bank will also help in making the new stadium family-friendly. He said the top ticket prices for WindSurge games will be $15, and there will be a berm at one corner of the stadium where families can pay $8 to spread out a blanket and watch the game.
Emprise Bank chairman and CEO Matt Michaelis said he believes in the vision of the Wichita Baseball organization, and he said Emprise wants to support what’s going on in Wichita and along the riverfront. He said the pavilion will provide great views of the ball game as well as the riverfront.
Reporters were able to see the field and the progress that has been made on the stadium, and Schwechheimer said public tours will be announced soon.
The WindSurge will play 70 games in the new stadium, but Schwechheimer said high school football games have already been scheduled, and there will be concerts and other events that will take place. He said every seat in the stadium is 22 inches wide, more than the major-league standard of 19 inches, and the depth of the rows will be 36 inches so people won’t have to stand to allow other fans to move along the row to find their seats.
The WindSurge begins its season in April.
