A new entrance ramp has opened for the Kansas Turnpike in east Wichita. The ramp will connect drivers on the frontage road on eastbound Kellogg to an entrance for the Turnpike. The ramp opened on Monday.
The Kansas Turnpike Authority says drivers need to remember three things about the new entrance:
- If a driver uses the exit from Kellogg’s frontage road by mistake, they will be required to enter southbound I-35/KTA as the road currently only carries one-way traffic. U-Turns will not be allowed.
- Travelers with a K-TAG or compatible toll device will enter the Turnpike electronically.
- Drivers without a K-TAG or compatible device will not stop for an entry ticket. However, they will use a cash lane on exit to tell a collector (or remote attendant) they entered via this ramp.
More ramps to connect Kellogg to the Turnpike will be constructed as work continues on the East Kellogg improvement project. The work is expected to be completed in the fall of 2021. More information about the improvements can be found at www.E54ict.com
