Sedgwick County deputies have been doing a lot traffic enforcement projects this year in an attempt to reduce crashes.

Deputies have been paying special attention to K-15, between 31st South and Mulvane, and to the intersection of 135th West and 71st South.  Enforcement assignments went back and forth between each area and accident rates fell drastically during those times.

So far in 2019, there have been seven fatal crashes resulting in nine deaths. All of 2018 saw 24 crashes and 30 deaths, so this year is on track for a much lower number.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office says all of these crashes were preventable and that deputies will keep working to makes the county’s roads safe.
