Wichita and Sedgwick County officials joined community leaders for an event Thursday to celebrate improvements to Sedgwick County Park.

A $150,000 renovation project has been completed to the Sunrise Boundless Playscape, which was originally dedicated in 2008.   New play equipment has been installed at the Sound Play Garden and there is a new children’s area to replace the sand play area.    A wheelchair-accessible maze was also added to the Playscape.

The Boundless Playscape is an area with age-appropriate equipment for toddlers to elementary-age children, and it includes equipment for youngsters with disabilities.

Sedgwick County and the West Sedgwick County Sunrise Rotary Club have worked together to develop the Playscape and provide for new equipment and renovations.

Sedgwick County officials and the Wichita Arts Council also held a ribbon-cutting event to celebrate the new Art Walk at Sedgwick County Park.   The Art Walk includes wheelchair-friendly surfaces and it will have family-friendly environmental art works.    The project is expected to cost around $400,000.
