The Kansas Department of Corrections says there was a disturbance Sunday, June 2, between two inmates in the Sexual Predator Treatment Program at Larned State Hospital.
The state did not release names or details about the fight that injured one of the inmates. The extent of their injuries was also not released.
“I take this matter very seriously and am committed to providing a safe environment for every resident,” said Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services Secretary Laura Howard in a news release. “I have every confidence our dedicated officials at Larned will conduct a thorough examination of this event and move forward with recommendations to prevent this in the future.”
Once the investigation is complete, the results will be turned over to the Pawnee County Attorney’s Office to determine if any charges will be filed.
