The new hangar housing the restored B-29 aircraft “Doc” will be open to the public beginning this week.
The hangar at 1788 South Airport Road will be open Tuesday and Thursday each week from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 to 1. Those hours will be in effect when the airplane is in Wichita, and not out on tour at an airshow.
Admission prices will be $10 for the hangar and visitors center, and another $5 for a tour of the cockpit. The proceeds will go directly to support the Doc Hangar and Education Center and the operation of the plane.
The plane has been undergoing winter maintenance, and crews plan to run engines on the plane this week and finish work on the propellers. Doc will take to the air again for the weekend of March 23rd, weather permitting.
