Three Sedgwick County commissioners are beginning their terms in office after a ceremony at the courthouse on Sunday.
New commissioner Pete Meitzner took the oath of office for the district one seat, taking over for Dave Unruh who stepped down after serving four terms in office. Also taking office is district four commissioner Lacey Cruse, who defeated two-term incumbent Richard Ranzau in the November election. Jim Howell was sworn-in for his second term in district five.
Commissioners will select a new chairman at their next regular meeting on Wednesday. Third district commissioner David Dennis served as chairman in 2018.
