The Greater Wichita YMCA and the Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System have announced a partnership and a fundraising campaign to bring a new state-of-the-art YMCA facility to Reno County.
Plans call for a new 75,000 square-foot Y branch, and it will be located on land donated by the HRHS near the intersection of 20th and Lorraine. It will replace the Hutchinson Y’s current location on East 13th.
The YMCA and HRHS are starting a capital campaign for the $30 million project. The new facility will include a first-class destination aquatics center, an indoor track, a gymnasium, an expanded gymnastics center, a fitness center with studios, a community room, and programs to provide safe spaces for youth along with a planned child care center. The first phase of the project will allow for future expansion and development.
A groundbreaking for the facility is planned for later this year.
