A bus carrying the Marion High School football team caught fire while taking the team back home after a football camp in Salina. The players, coaches and the bus driver all escaped injury.
The bus caught fire Friday afternoon on Interstate 135 near a rest stop north of McPherson. The team had been to the Kansas Wesleyan Football Camp in Salina, and they were on the way home when the fire broke out.
Marion-Florence school district officials said in a social media post that no one was injured “because of the response to the situation through the bus safety instructions our bus drivers give before the drive.”
There’s no word on the cause of the fire.
