The Wichita school district is having four public input sessions to get feedback on a facilities master plan.

The district has decided to close four elementary schools and two middle schools, but there are also decisions ahead on the future of other buildings and facilities.  The decisions could include consolidation or going to voters with a new bond issue.

The district is working on a long-term master plan for school buildings.  The feedback sessions are being held Monday and Tuesday.

  • April 22, 5:30pm – Alvin Morris Administrative Center, 903 S. Edgemoor
  • April 22, 7:30pm – Brooks Magnet Middle School, 3802 E. 27th N.
  • April 23, 5:30pm – West High School, 820 S. Osage
  • April 23, 7:30pm – North High School, 1437 N. Rochester

The sessions will have a large group discussion to review the data, challenges and options.   People attending the sessions will then break into small groups to talk about pros and cons of the various options, and any additions or changes they would like to see.
